Two-vehicle accident kills Pennsylvania man

A 38-year-old Pennsylvania resident was killed on the afternoon of Dec. 27 when his vehicle veered into opposing traffic and struck a pickup truck head on at Stephen M. Sweeney Way and Theresa Drive in Harrison Towship, according to police.

Monir Lancaster was driving a 2018 Buick Encore westbound on Sweeney Way – the former bypass – when he suddenly veered into the eastbound lane and struck a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado driven by a Glassboro resident. The acccident forced Sweeney Way to be closed for about four hours between North Main Street and Mullica Hill Road.

Lancaster was pronounced dead at the scene. The occupant of the pickup – who was not identified – was treated at Inspira Medical Center of Mullica Hill for non-life-threatening injuries.

Harrison police were aided in their response to the crash by the township fire district and Gloucester County EMS.
