Employees honored included Critical Care Medicine physician Kishan Patel, DO, registered nurses Katherine Dean; Courtney Eller, Kristine Hunt, Victoria Liccketto, Savanna Schneeweis, Patricia McSweeney and Calvin Tran; and patient care technicians Collins Nwanonenyi and Shem Otwori.

Members of the Jefferson Washington Township Hospital Emergency Department were recently honored with a DAISY Team Award for Extraordinary Nurses.

The award was presented in recognition of the staff’s commitment to compassionate care and collaborating with nursing to identify and exceed patient needs. In one case, the team devoted hours to stabilizing a patient and maintained clear communication with the family while helping other patients.

“The team showed extraordinary dedication, prioritizing the urgent situation and skillfully applying their expertise to save a young man’s life,” said Diane Juliano, interim chief nursing officer, Jefferson Health-East Region.

“His parents expressed overwhelming joy and gratitude, offering high praise to all the staff involved.”

Part of an international program, DAISY honorees are nominated by patients, family members, and colleagues. DAISY Award winners are chosen following a review of nominations by Jefferson’s Clinical Recognition Committee in New Jersey. The nonprofit DAISY Foundation was established in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who died in 1999 from complications of an autoimmune disease.
