The Mullica Hill library will host its game night for teenagers from 13 to 18 on Wednesday, Dec. 6.

Activities will include video, board and card games teens can use for free, whether or not they have a library card. The event will take place in the library’s Teen Place from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

One of game night’s main goals of the event is to familiarize as many teens as possible with what the library has to offer.

“The teen game night in December is a program for teens ages 13 to 18 to hang out and play some games,” said teen librarian Crysta Miller. ” … We run this program the first Wednesday evening of the month from 6:30 to 8 p.m. We have a Nintendo Switch and a PlayStation 4 set up, along with multiplayer games so that more people can participate.”

Teens are also encouraged to bring their own games. Though teen night is free, registration is required on the Gloucester County Library System (GCLS) website and can be accessed by going to site’s calendar of events. Attendees must each register separately and provide name, email address and phone number.

can also contact Miller at (856) 223-6028 or by email at cmiller@gcls.org for any questions.

The program is one of a variety of activities the library offers to teens, including the teen STEAM program, crafts and a chess club. Game night is also an opportunity for teens to be distracted from their daily struggles, Miller believes.

“It’s an opportunity for local teens to come hang out at the library for a fun break from homework,” she noted, “and maybe make a new friend.”
