Honoring those who serve

Delran is holding two events in honor of veterans.

The Delran Fire Department will host a veteran’s appreciation dinner at the township municipal building on Wednesday, Nov. 8. It is open to all Burlington County veterans and guests as well as those who serve the communities on a daily basis.

Reach out to Patty at (856) 266-0852 for more information. To RSVP, call (856) 461-7734, ext. 100, or email mlarkin@delrantownship.org.

The township will honor all past and present service members on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, at its annual ceremony, also at the municipal building. A Flags for Heroes will be on display and guests can sponsor a flag to honor their chosen heroes and raise funds for community endearvors.

To do so, there is a donation due by Friday, Oct. 31. For more information, visit https://trellis.org/wjr-flags-for-heroes

The sponsorships have funded the following:

  • Scholarships to local students, including students of military families
  • Local housing shelter
  • Cardiac care for children overseas
  • Disaster relief funding
  • Medical relief programs
  • Polio eradication efforts
  • Local clothing drives
  • International orphanage funding.

A donation will honor a hero with his or her name and information on a laminated badge that is placed with a flag. After the event, the badge can be kept as a memento.

The powerful and emotional display of flags will be up for two days beginning Friday, Nov. 10 at the municipal building.
