Get rid of old prescriptions

Harrison Township police will again participate in the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, Oct. 28, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. It’s a chance to get rid of expired or unwanted drugs that will be safely disposed of by police.

How to prepare items for disposal:

– All pharmaceutical drugs must be placed in a sealed container, such as the original bottle or Zip-lock bag.

– Liquid pharmaceuticals should remain in the original container.

– Personal information should be removed or marked out

Drugs for disposal are:

– Prescription and over-the-counter solid medications

– Tablets and capsules

– Pet medicines

Not eligible for disposal are intravenous solutions, injectables, syringes, needles such as EpiPens – which must go to a medical office or hospital – hydrogen peroxide, compressed cylinders or aerosols like asthma inhalers, medications containig iodine, thermometers and alcohol and illicit drugs.
