The Gloucester Township Police Department has won the 2023 Destination Zero Comprehensive Safety Award from the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund Museum in Washington, D.C., an honor that reflects dedication to improving the health and safety of officers nationwide.
Destination Zero is designed to help make those improvements by creating a platform that provides all U.S. law-enforcement agencies with the ability to research safety and wellness programs and identify the resources necessary to begin their own risk-management initiatives.
The award recognizes police departments that have successfully developed, implemented and promoted such programs. Destination Zero is widely accepted by employees, has high participation rates, and is considered a success.
In attendance at the National Law Enforcement Museum awards ceremony on Sept. 29 were Police Chief David Harkins, Deputy Chief Anthony Minosse, Capt. John Stollsteimer, and Mayor David Mayer.
“To receive the recognition from an organization as the NLEOMF Destination Zero Program validates the commitment that the men and women of the Gloucester Township Police Department have toward safety and wellness,” Harkins said.
“We recognize that when our officers and dispatchers are well, they will be more confident and will better serve our community. “
A press conference on the award will take place on Monday at 10 a.m. at the township police training facility, 800 Hickstown Road in Sicklerville.
