Adelphia Restaurant & Events will again host the township fundraiser, which will include a raffle and food.

Deptford Township will host its annual Fund for Deptford Families gathering next month at Adelphia Restaurant & Events.

All township residents are welcome to attend the fundraiser, set for on Monday, Oct. 16, from 7 to 9 p.m. Money raised provides help to families in the community who are in the midst of an emergency or crisis situation such as a house fire or other natural disaster.

“The fund … has really evolved over the years,” said Mayor Paul Medany. “The money goes into a fund to help families in a crisis situation. What it helps pay for is temporary housing for them. We can’t give them much, but we will help them for about a week or two.

Temporary shelter includes a hotel and there are provisions for other necessities.

“We have to regulate it (the fund), and all the money from that event goes into the fund,” Medany added.

Tickets for the fundraiser are $25 per person and can be purchased at the township manager’s office inside the municipal building. They can also be purchased the night of the event, but the township prefers pre-registration to determine how many people will attend.

Tickets include appetizers, beer, wine and other amenities. There will also be an auction of baskets provided by area businesses that requires a separate ticket.

Medany will be joined at the Deptford Families event by council and several township employees, along with what the mayor describes as “generous” participating businesses.

“This one helps the people,” Medany noted of the fundraiser. “Most of the employees and council members come around for it. It’s a great event, a meaningful event for Deptford.”
