Mantua police are on the lookout for two males (pictured) who have taken the ding-dong-ditch prank too far.
Ding-dong-ditch involves ringing someone’s doorbell, then running away. The suspects in question are white males, one who struck in Wenonah and one in the Sewell section of Mantua, both on July 20. The former wore a one-piece hoodie, and the latter was dressed in a gray T-shirt, black shorts, orange or yellow sneakers, a blue and white mesh cap and a light-colored ski mask.
The pranks have been known to occur at late hours, sometime between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m., when residents are likely asleep. One homeowner’s door was hit so hard, it sounded like a break-in. Other instances of the prank have left residents shaken, police say. Some try to pursue the suspects spotted on their porch cameras.
One of the males sought by police also appeared on camera to be holding a rock. Parents of the suspects and residents who’ve been victimized are urged to reach out to police. Email Jbair@mantuatownship.com
