Mayor hosts health symposium on keeping kids safe during the summer

Topics include children’s summer health, infant care, pool and bike safety, and social media safety tips for middle school aged kids.

As part of the Mayor’s Annual Health & Wellness Campaign, join us for our second Health Symposium, “Vacation or Staycation, Keep Your Kids Healthy and Safe this Summer,” this Thursday, June 22, 7:30 to 9 p.m. in the Auditorium at Borough Hall.
Mayor Colleen Bianco Bezich will moderate a panel that includes local health practitioners and Haddonfield Chief of Police Jason Cutler, covering topics on children’s summer health, infant care, pool and bike safety, and social media safety tips for middle school-age kids.
The list of panelists includes the following:
  • Dr. Jennifer Carite. Specialty: Pediatrics. Dr. Carite practices with Advocare Birchwood Pediatrics and is on staff with Virtua Hospital. Her interests include preventative medicine, breastfeeding support, and building relationship with families from birth to adolescence. Before joining Birchwood, she worked in Pediatric Urgent Care and Emergency Medicine.
  • Dr. Saba Aftab, MD, FACS. Specialty: Ear, Nose & Throat. Dr. Aftab practices with Advocare ENT Speciality Center and is a board-certified otolaryngologist. Her articles and chapters have been published in peer-review medical journals and textbooks. Her areas of clinical expertise and special interest include voice and swallowing problems, thyroid surgery, nose and sinus surgery, and pediatric ENT.
  • The Mama Coach, Tina Khiani, RN. Ms. Khiani has experience with maternal and infant health and working in hospitals NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit). Her private practice, the Mama Coach, specializes in guiding families through every stage of their parenting journey by providing evidence-informed education infused with nonjudgmental support, compassion, and empathy.
  • Chief Jason Cutler, Haddonfield Police Department. Chief Cutler has been with the Haddonfield Police Department for twenty-nine years and has held the position of Chief for the past five years. He heads a department with twenty-three officers and four civilian employees. Before joining HPD, he spent three years as an officer with the Ocean City Police Department.

The event is free and open to the public.
