After the success of last year’s inaugural DAWGS of Haddonfield calendar featuring the borough’s best pups, Haddonfield Crew Club is bringing the fundraiser back and expanding it to include all pets.
From now until Saturday, July 29, residents can submit their pets for the calendar at a fee of $35 and also vote for their favorite animals at $1 each. The 13 pets with the most votes will win a photo shoot with Debbie Troy Photography and their photos will be used for the cover and for each month of the year.
The contest’s expansion to include all kinds of animals was the result of feedback last year from residents.
“All animals who lived in Haddonfield, whether it’s a dog, cat, iguana, fish or chicken – because now people have chickens in Haddonfield – any animal (can enter ) …” said Robert Berman, president of the Crew Club.
All animals submitted will be automatically included in the calendar’s blank spaces and bonus pages. Owners can also pay $45 to have their pet’s image featured on a specific date, along with a brief caption. All submissions will also be entered into a raffle for a downtown Haddonfield gift basket.
“Last year, we raised $21,000 through the contest, and because we’re increasing our prizes and trying to do more, we would like to bring in $35,000,” Berman noted.
Berman noted that while the club previously requested help from the school board, the latter was limited in what it could support. So funds raised by the calendar will fund boat maintenance and equipment and could potentially help lower the seasonal rower fee.
Berman said there will be other opportunities to support the Crew Club, and it will team with the Masonic Lodge to hold a fundraiser during the Haddonfield Crafts and Fine Arts Festival next month.
