The parade will kick off at 10 am, led by esteemed Grand Marshal Dr. Lovell Pugh-Bassett, President of Camden County College. Following the parade, many activities, including over 40 vendors showcasing various art, candles, wellness items, tee shirts, handbags, and jewelry. Mouthwatering savory food offerings will tempt taste buds, while an exciting lineup of performers will grace the stage throughout the day.Â
Health screenings and mobile clinics will also be available at the festival, ensuring the well-being of attendees. Cooper University Hospital will provide blood pressure monitoring and several healthcare institutions will provide valuable services, resources and health education.Â
Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, when enslaved Americans received word of their freedom on the beach in Galveston, Texas. It stands as the oldest and continuous celebration of the end of American slavery in the United States, having spread from Texas throughout the nation and the world. Recently, Governor Murphy and President Biden signed legislation designating the third Friday in June as a state and federal holiday.Â
