Crime log for April 2023

  • Corporal Jesse Bair stopped a vehicle on April 1 at 2:59 a.m. for swerving on Woodbury Glassboro Road in the area of Route 55. Investigation revealed that the 34-year-old male Newfield Male was intoxicated. He was arrested and charged with DWI and reckless driving and released to a family member.
  • A 46-year-old West Deptford resident was arrested for Shoplifting $213 in tools from the Home Depot on April 1.
  • Also on April 1 Ptl. William Schnarr apprehended a fleeing felon in a foot chase who resisted arrest during a Shoplifting Investigation. The 29-year-old Gibbstown Resident had stolen $994.17 worth of material before being stopped by Ptl. Schnarr.
  • Sgt. Cody Mroz conducted a motor vehicle stop on April 2nd in Woodbury.
  • Glassboro Road in the area of Route 55. During investigation Sgt. Mroz deployed his K9 partner Drax for a narcotics sniff and search of the vehicle yielded heroin and drug paraphernalia.
  • Overnight on April 3, someone smashed the windshield of a vehicle on N. Jefferson Avenue in Wenonah, causing $800.00, Ptl. Kappre is investigating.
  • On April 7th, Sgt. Brian Crispin and his team were able to apprehend a 39-year-old Gloucester City male and 37-year-old female who had shoplifted over $2,000.00 worth of equipment from Home Depot and were in the process of attempting to shoplift from Kohls on Bridgeton Pike.
  • Also on April 7th Corporal Krieger charged an arrestee for damaging township property while under arrest.
  • Ptl. Greg Sweeney is investigating a theft of a white blow up Easter Bunny that occurred on Barlow Avenue on April 8.
  • On April 11, Ptl. Stephen Wolfsgruber Conducted a motor vehicle stop on Woodbury Glassboro Road, where the 49-year-old female from Williamstown was found to be in Possession of cocaine, drug paraphernalia and illegal prescription drugs.
  • Sgt. Mroz conducted a motor vehicle stop on April 11 at 10:30 p.m., where the 34-year-old female driver from Glassboro failed to provide her correct information and was found to have a suspended license and numerous active warrants.
  • On April 12, officers investigated a motor vehicle crash, where the Meadow Court resident accidentally drove their car through their garage and into their home.
  • Det. Krieger is investigating a Theft by Deception where the victim was frauded approximately $2,500.
  • On April 13 numerous unlocked vehicles were burglarized on White Oak Lane, Ptl. Kappre is still investigating.
  • Ptl. Tyler Robertson is investigating a Criminal Mischief to a vehicle that occurred on April 13 on Jackson Road.
  • Ptl. Thomas Cirone is investigating numerous thefts of catalytic converters that occurred overnight on April 13 on W. Mantua Avenue and N. Jefferson Avenue in Wenonah.
  • Sgt. Donovan and his officers investigated six motor vehicle crashes on April
  • 19.
  • Ptl. Cirone is investigating a criminal mischief incident that occurred overnight
  • of April 19 on Harrison Avenue, where someone shot out a window with a BB
  • pellet.
  • Sgt. Crispin and his officers investigated seven motor vehicle crashes on April 21.
  • On April 22 Detective Layton and other officers conducted an operation that yielded the arrest of an organized Shoplifting ring from the Home Depot on Bridgeton Pike.
  • The weekend of April 21, 22 and 23, Mantua Officers conducted patrols in Deptford Township to assist Deptford Township officers while they supported officer Robert Shisler.
  • On April 23 Det. Layton and Lt. Brian Hauss gave chase to a fleeing felon who committed a strong armed robbery from the Walmart on Clements Bridge Road in Deptford.
  • On April 26, Detective Layton, Sgt. Crispin, Detective Krieger, Ptl. Kappre and Ptl. Sweeney apprehended a 42-year-old male and a 39-year-old female who had shoplifted from both the Home Depot and Kohls in possession of over $5,000.00 in stolen merchandise.
  • On April 27, Lt. Hauss and Lt. Hayes investigated a defiant trespassing complaint in Ceres Park. The 24-year-old male suspect from Woolwich was removed from the property without charges.
  • While investigating an unsafe vehicle with a broken light and cracked windshield, Sgt. Mroz and his K9 partner Drax were able to apprehend a 47-year-old Franklinville man in possession of Cocaine on Route 55 on April 27.
  • Ptl. Sweeney is investigating a theft of a license plate from a vehicle parked on Church Road.
  • On April 28, a residence on Breakneck Road was burglarized and two high end vehicles, a Range Rover and a Dodge TRX truck were stolen out of the garage. The Range Rover was located in Summit, NJ. The investigation is being handled by Detective Krieger and the NJ State Police Auto Theft Unit.
  • After a month-long investigation, two males from Toms River were placed into custody on April 30 for criminal mischief to the railroad overpass along Cape May Avenue. The suspects were identified and found to be suspects in numerous other incidents across South Jersey.
