Mantua resident fall victim to two vehicle thefts

Mantua Police Department

On April 28, a resident of Mantua township fell victim to two of their vehicles being stolen from their garage in Breakneck Road. The vehicle pictured is the suspect vehicle.  The Mantua Township Police Detective Bureau and New Jersey State Police Auto Theft Task Force are investigating.

PSA. The suspects in this case are part of a sophisticated organized crime group out of North Jersey targeting high end vehicles. The vehicles stolen were a Range Rover and Dodge TRX pickup truck. These vehicles were taken out of their closed garage. The suspects were likely able to gain access to their garage with an RFID reader and were likely specifically targeting the victims because of their vehicles. Upon entry into the garage, they were able to locate the vehicle keys inside the dwelling.

Tips to keep your property secure. Keep your keys to your vehicle away from the vehicle.  Just because your car is in the garage it still needs to be locked.

Please avoid social media exposure with your vehicles.

Always check your surroundings if you could be followed.

Mantua and Wenonah are very safe communities and are specifically targeted by these organized crime groups, because our residents do live in such a safe town and likely keep their vehicles unsecured. This is not a random act of crime. These criminals will enter your home, will be armed and are extremely violent.

The car in the photo is stolen out of North Jersey and used to transport these criminals to our town to commit more thefts.
