The Battle of the Badges

I am pleased to announce the friendly competition is on! My administration, along with the police and fire departments, announced there will be a Battle of the Badges Blood Drive on Tuesday, May 3 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the Washington Township Senior Center located at 315 Greentree Dr.

Blood donors must choose which department they would like to donate for: Team Fire or Team Police. The winner will receive an award, as well as bragging rights for the year! I am proud to share that Washington Township was the first municipality in Gloucester County to host a Battle of the Badges Blood Drive with the American Red Cross.

We ask if you’re eligible to donate blood, to please consider signing up to donate at www.redcrossblood.org and enter the sponsor code: Washington Township BOB. To find out if you’re eligible, you may visit the Red Cross website, or call 1-866-236-3276. One blood donation can save up to three lives. We look forward to seeing residents stopping in to make a difference in people’s lives at Washington Township’s Battle of the Badges. May the best department win!

Reminders

Spring Loose leaf pick up will began April 3 and ends April 28. Leaves will be picked up the day after your trash day. Please make sure that cars are parked away from the pile of leaves and that no grass, dirt or branches are included in the pile.

Safety

I would like to remind all residents to please be aware of foot traffic throughout the township as the weather is now becoming warmer. There will be more children out playing in the neighborhoods, as well as in Washington Lake Park. Please be careful when driving through the neighborhoods and through the park as we want everyone to stay safe and to enjoy the warmer weather during this spring season.

Please note the Washington Township Municipal Building will be closed on Good Friday, April 7.
