American Legion Post brings Hogs and Heroes at Celebrity Bartender Night

Two members will be guest bartenders at American Legion event

Courtesy of Jack Sommer. Hogs and Heroes is a nonprofit group of motorcycle riders who support public safety, the military and wounded warriors through fundraising events.

American Legion Post 452 in Mullica Hill will host its second celebrity bartender night on Friday, March 24, when guests will see the arrival of Hogs and Heroes Foundation members.

Two members of the motorcyclists’ group, New Jersey chapter President Chrissy “Crazy” Barber and Secretary Kathy “KitKat” Spurka, will tend bar that night.

We are a nonprofit 501(c)(3) community of motorcycle riders that support public safety, the US military and wounded warriors,” said Barber. “We sponsor and hold fundraising events for various public safety U.S. military and wounded warrior charities.”

Guests at the Legion post event will have the opportunity to interact with members of the Hogs and Heroes, beginning at 7 p.m. Food and live music will also be available.

“We perform honor missions for fallen police officers, firefighters, emergency medical workers, members of the military killed in combat operations and U.S. military veterans,” said Barber. “We plan and participate in fun rides and events, and we participate in fundraisers and events of other charitable organizations. 

“We strive to set out examples of good citizenship for the youth of our nation.”

The public can attend the post event but must pay for food and drinks. Tips will also be accepted by the guest bartenders. Proceeds will help the Harrison Township police acquire a crate for Dunkin, the department’s sole K-9,

“This is our second celebrity bartending event at the American Legion in Mullica Hill, and the prior one was such a great success, and all proceeds were donated to the Military Support Group of New Jersey, as well as People for People,” Barber noted.

Besides New Jersey, Hogs and Heroes has chapters in Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland and New York.

The legion post regularly hosts events at its hall, including a monthly open mic night and an annual St. Patty’s Day Party.
