Moorestown’s parks and recreation accepting summer camp applications

All applications will be scheduled for an interview after March 10 deadline

The Parks and Recreation Department is now accepting job applications for summer camp positions. The deadline is March 10. Anyone 16 and above can apply to work as a camp counselor. Qualified teachers are also needed as site supervisors. All applications will be scheduled for an interview after the deadline.

Applications for ‘Counselor in Training’ (CIT) positions are also open with the same deadline of March 10. These positions are for 14- and 15-year-olds to assist in all summer camp programs. This is a great opportunity for young students who are interested in leadership and education. It builds a strong foundation for any type of future employment.

Camps will begin the week after school is out in June and last generally between four and six weeks. Summer camp is mostly a half-day (9 a.m. to 1 p.m.) at various schools and parks in Moorestown. Summer camps for young children (ages 4 and 5) are held at South Valley Elementary School Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Baker and Roberts schools have a camp for kindergarten through sixth grade, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be a break for the fourth of July holiday.

Theatre Camp is a six-week program and there are specialty camps for sports, arts and pottery that are from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Special Needs camp is a four-week program and certified special education teachers are needed. Regular camp counselor positions are open for the special needs camp and would be an invaluable experience for anyone interested in a career in disability services.

Applications can be found on www.moorestownrec.com under “Volunteering and Information.” The drop-down menu will show both “Apply for Job Opportunities” and “Apply to be a Counselor In Training.”
