Free fitness classes at the Moorestown rec center

All classes can be adapted to any fitness level, including beginners

Start the New Year off on the right foot and take some exercise classes at the rec – for free. Thanks to generous private donations, some of the rec’s fitness classes will be free during January and February. 

Log on to www.moorestownrec.com and view the ‘Calendar For Group Fitness Classes’ (Click on the ‘Fitness Class’ icon and it will take you to the calendar.) The free classes are for Moorestown residents. Registration is required, which can be done on the website. 

Start your week off centered and relaxed with ‘Yoga with Jen’ on Mondays from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Jen Scharf is a registered yoga instructor and has a passion for connecting mindfulness and physical fitness. 

On Tuesdays from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. tone and stretch with Sommer Bayard’s class Full Body Tone. Also on Tuesdays from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., learn the practice of Tai Chi with Wenrong Zou Atkins. Class begins with 10 minutes of warm up exercises, followed by 15 minutes of learning basic tai chi skills and the last 35 minutes are spent learning the simplified 18 steps.

Join Joan Kindsfather on Wednesdays from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. for Zumba. On Thursdays from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Kindsfather will be leading Zumba Gold, a class for active older adults, with a slightly gentler pace.
