Winter festival expected to repeat last year’s attendance

The 2021 event was the township’s first since the pandemic

The start of the holiday season means the return of the township’s popular winter festival, which hosted thousands of residents and other community members last year.

The success of the 2021 event – the first since COVID – is expected to be repeated this year.

“This was the biggest event of the year last year, so it was really well attended by the residents,” said Council President Tyler Burrell. “It was a big hit for the residents, and we’re expecting it to be a big hit this year for sure.”

The event began at 6 p.m. on Dec. 2 at the township municipal building, and included the  annual tree-lighting ceremony at 7 p.m. Santa also made an appearance at this event, with help from the township fire department. Food trucks and vendors were on hand, along with free arts and crafts. Santa was available for photos after the tree lighting and throughout the night.

“We can take a pause from our everyday lives and enjoy the holiday season that’s really focused around loving our friends, families, neighbors, all coming together as a community to celebrate our common bonds,” Burrell said.

The winter festival has expanded in recent years from an indoor event to a much larger space outdoors to accommodate thousands of attendees.
