Mayor Medany’s December Message

December in Deptford is just a fantastic time of year. We have so much to offer and to share with you. This month holiday shopping is in full swing. The Deptford Mall has been very busy and is just a wonderful place to do your shopping. The variety of stores is everything you need and then we get to the entertainment aspect. Round One Entertainment has something for the whole family and if you haven’t visited yet you need to experience it. Then in the whole of the mall area there is so much variety to shop, to dine and to entertain you and the family. It’s safe, clean and easy to get to, so we hope you shop local this year and forego online shopping to help the local economy.

Then we get to our event schedule. Dec.15 is our annual senior winter wonderland for our over 55 community at our great Community Center. Dec. 17 is pictures with Santa at the Deptford Dog Park. This is a fun filled event for all of our pet owners and their best friends.

We continue leaf pickup this month and hats off to our great Public Works crews for a fantastic job. Leaf collection is a massive undertaking and our men and women in public works have met the challenge. We are fully prepared for inclement weather. Snow equipment is ready to go. Our Emergency Operation Center is fully equipped to coordinate any emergencies. Prepare an EAP (emergency action plan) for you and your family.   https://nj.gov/njoem/plan-prepare/index.shtml

Some last-minute safety tips. Make sure to lock your vehicles when shopping and when you get home. Be aware of your surroundings. Keep a flashlight handy and your cell phone charged. Don’t leave packages on your porch. Be aware of phone scams this season, if you’re not sure of the number on your phone don’t answer just let them leave a message. These and other tips are available on our website. Stay safe, be well, and all of us here at the Township wish you a Merry Christmas.
