Cherry Hill Mall will spread holiday cheer with a number of events in November and December.

Beginning Nov. 23 and continuing on Wednesdays through Dec. 21, elves will surprise shoppers with gift cards and treats for an initiative called More the Merrier.

“If you happen to be shopping here on Wednesday, our little elves may be out on the mall and you could be rewarded with a $10 gift card to a store or a sweet treat to one of our stores,” said Lisa Wolstromer, senior marketing director for the mall.

The idea to surprise people began a couple of years ago with a program that granted “wishes” during the holiday season and randomly surprised people at the mall.

“It was really very wonderful,” Wolstromer recalled. “People were so very appreciative of having their wish granted or being surprised randomly, so we’re excited to bring that back this year, because it’s just a really nice, feel good, random-act-of-kindness movement.”

Wolstromer said the goal of More the Merrier is to surprise about 20 people each Wednesday.

The mall will hold its first Kringle Mingle on Dec. 1, an opportunity to dress up as Santa or in other festive clothes like ugly sweaters and receive a goodie bag with a free drink ticket at Maggiano’s Italian Restaurant. There will also be performances by Jersey Sound Chorus, a DJ, a caricaturist and a magician.

“A lot of the events we do around holiday time are very children focused, so we were trying to create an event that would be kind of more of an adult focus but still family oriented,” explained Wolstromer.

“I think it would be so much fun to see different people dressed as Santa, having fun, getting dressed up for the holidays and enjoying the program that we have.”

Kringle Mingle will take place in the mall’s grand court from 6 to 8 p.m.

The annual holiday giving tree will return to the grand court next to the Santa house starting on Nov. 21. Shoppers can take a tag, buy a gift for a child and bring back the unwrapped present to the mall management office between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Deadline is Dec. 22.

From now through Dec. 11, there will also be a card-making table at Santa’s house where shoppers can create cards for sick kids at children’s hospitals and Ronald McDonald Houses across the country.

From Dec. 15 through Christmas Eve, there will be a holiday gift wrap booth in the Macy’s wing near the Pottery Barn. Volunteers from Hadassah Medical Group will wrap gifts for suggested donations.

Families can also get pet photos with Santa from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Mondays if they reserve in advance at https://vipholidayphotos.com/MakeReservation.aspx
