Burlington County Elections officials are encouraging citizens to exercise their right to vote in the upcoming General Election and are providing some tips to follow to ensure the process is smooth for voters and elections staff.
“Voting is one of the most important rights we possess and is fundamentally important to our democracy,” said Burlington County Superintendent of Elections Dawn Marie Addiego. “Our elections systems are secure with numerous safeguards in place, but we are offering a few tips that can help voters.”
Here are a few tips to follow:
Make sure your registration information is updated
Registered voters who have moved or changed their name should update their voter registration. This can be done online through the Division of Elections or at most municipal buildings and the Superintendent of Elections Office at 50 Rancocas Road, Mount Holly.
Be aware that changing your mailing address with the U.S. Post Office does not automatically update voter registration information.
Registered voters can update their information during New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission transactions or business. Voters are encouraged to keep their information up to date, but they should be careful to make sure information is updated correctly and they should opt out of updating their information during MVC transactions if they don’t need to because it can create duplicate voter records and signatures.
Make sure to sign your Vote-by-mail ballot certification
After marking your VBM ballot for the candidates and/or questions of your choice, voters need to insert it into a certificate envelope and sign the Certificate of Mail-in Voter located on the flap of the envelope.
Voters must sign the envelope. Ballots with unsigned envelopes must go through the ballot cures process.
Go to the proper polling location
Voters who were sent a VBM ballot will not be permitted to vote with a machine at any of the county’s seven early voting sites or at their regular polling sites on Election Day. These voters will still be allowed to vote with a paper provisional ballot.
Burlington County voters can vote with a machine at any of seven early voting sites in the county during the early voting period of Oct. 29 to Nov. 6.

On Election Day, voters should go to their regular polling location to cast their ballot with a machine. To find your Election Day polling site, go to https://voter.svrs.nj.gov/polling-place-search
Voters who show up at the wrong polling location on Election Day will be directed to the proper location or will be given a paper provisional ballot.
