Foundation’s annual casino night returns in person

Funds raised have long supported departments in the high school

The casino night sponsored by the Palmyra High School Foundation for Educational Excellence is a signature fundraising event for the organization, which has raised $78,000 for the high school since its inception in 2016.

The Palmyra High School Foundation for Educational Excellence has long given back to the borough high school with fundraising efforts that happen throughout the year. For the first time in a few years, one of those events returns this month.

Casino night, the foundation’s signature fundraising event and one with high attendance, returns for the fourth time on Oct. 15, with the in-person version back after it was delayed by COVID.

“They bring in a gambling company of retired casino dealers, knowledgeable but friendly people, who help coach you along,” said school district Media Administrative Assistant Lisa Jablonski.  “What’s nice about it is that they’re friendly and it’s not high-stakes, like it would be in a real casino.

“Since our formation in 2016, PHSFEE has raised $78,000 for Palmyra High School. We are very proud of this achievement,” noted foundation trustee Jody Demas. “We will have a huge turnout, as our fabulous community always rallies around events to support our kids.”

Money raised by the foundation through the years has gone to departments within the high school, including the arts and science departments

“We’re very appreciative of their generosity of time and their drive to raise funds to further the education of our students,” Jablonski said. “We’re very grateful for the fundraising that they do.”

A $65 ticket for casino night will include food catered by Sweet Lucy’s BBQ, along with beer and wine. The event will be held at Sacred Heart Church in Riverton from 6:30 to 11 p.m..

Anyone interested in tickets can reach out to Chris Murnane at (856) 905-6388.
