Burlington County Restaurant Week is here and bigger than ever.
The weeklong celebration of Burlington County’s restaurants, taverns and other eateries kicked off Aug. 14 with more than 70 participants representing a wide variety of different cuisines, ranging from cheesesteaks and wings to fine dining, vegan, Tex-Mex, sushi and fusions.
As with prior Restaurant Weeks, this year’s event was organized by the Burlington County Commissioners and State Senator Troy Singleton to help showcase and promote Burlington County’s many restaurants and encourage residents from throughout the region to patronize them.
Throughout the week, the commissioners and senator will highlight them with visits and posts on social media. Many of the participants are also creating special menus, dishes and discounts.
“Burlington County started Restaurant Week to help support our county’s restaurants by encouraging residents to dine locally and the event has continued to grow each year,” said Burlington County Commissioner Director Dan O’Connell. “The 70-plus restaurants that signed up this year is more than double the total from 2019 when we held our first Restaurant Week. We’re excited to see so many places participate, and we’re looking forward to enjoying some of their wonderful dishes and drinks. We hope our residents will also dine out this week and provide a boost for these businesses and their employees.”
“Restaurants are places where friends and family come together to enjoy great food and company, and by patronizing them, we help support our own neighbors, friends and communities,” added Senator Singleton. “We know the pandemic was a huge challenge for most restaurants and some still haven’t recovered. That’s why I’m proud to once again partner with the Burlington County Commissioners to sponsor Restaurant Week. It is our collective goal to promote the many great dining choices in Burlington County, to encourage people to dine locally, and to expose residents to new eateries they’ve never tried before.”
Burlington County Commissioner Felicia Hopson said Restaurant Week will hopefully give county restaurants a lift during these still challenging times.
“Restaurant Week is more important than ever,” said Hopson, who initiated the creation of the first Burlington County Restaurant Week in 2019. “These businesses have faced incredible challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic, labor shortages, supply shortages and cost increases. Restaurant Week is one way for our county and our residents to show their appreciation and support for local restaurants and their employees while also promoting the diverse dining options available in Burlington County.”
