Downtown Haddonfield’s summer sidewalk sale is a longtime annual tradition where businesses can offload their summer products before restocking for the fall.
The event has drawn thousands, and this year’s four-day weekend sale will begin with a kickoff on Aug. 4 from 4 to 8 p.m. There will be food trucks, live entertainment and live acts at Kings Court, and outdoor dining spaces on a section of Kings Highway will be shut down.
Participating stores will be open until 8 p.m. rather than their usual closing time.
“This is our new lift to make it something experiential,” said Michael Marciante, executive director of the Partnership for Haddonfield. “Our hope is to have more events like this in the future.”
In addition to the kickoff, the sidewalk sale will continue through Aug. 7 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Some businesses may be open earlier or later depending on their hours.
“It’s a very traditional event,” Marciante noted. “It goes back even before the formation of the business improvement district, where folks would come out at summer time and have some of their wares on Kings Highway and on neighboring streets.
“ … From what I understand, it goes back decades, to the point where we’ve lost count to how many we’ve had.”
In the past, stores like The Lavish Loft and the South Jersey Running Company have had lines out the door in anticipation of the summer deals. For this year’s four-day sale, some participating stores have expanded their hours and others will have special discounts.
Some of the downtown Haddonfield businesses participating in the sale are:
- Anatolia Art and Craft Studio: 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
- Brain Freeze Ice Cream Parlor: Open until 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 9 p.m. on Thursday and Sunday.
- Downtown Cookies: Open until 8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 4)
- Haddon Culinary: Open until 8 p.m. on Aug. 4
- Kings Road Brewing Company: Open from noon to 10 p.m. on Aug. 4.

Marciante noted that the website featured a preview rather than a complete list and that businesses may participate without informing the Partnership for Haddonfield. He encouraged residents to check the website for updates.
