Long-held festival returns to township’s Main Street

Part of proceeds will benefit the Medford Arts Center

Sunday’s Art, Wine and Music Festival will feature wine tents, creative artists with vendors and a car show from the Medford Lakes Corvette Club.

The Art, Wine and Music Festival will return to Medford’s Main Street Sunday  and will feature a Wine N’ Shine car show courtesy of the Lakes Corvette Club of Medford Lakes.

The long-standing festival was rescheduled to September last year because of summer COVID cases but returns this year to its regular date on the second Sunday in June.

The festival features creative artists and vendors, kids’ activities, live music, food trucks and tents featuring wine and Medford breweries. New wineries this year are  Balie, Cream Ridge Winery, Wagonhouse Winery, Villari Vineyards, Stokelan Estate Winery and the online wine shop WTSO.com.

The festival is sponsored by the Medford ShopRite and the nonprofit Medford Business Association, created to promote a strong business community and the civic and cultural programs that make the township a desirable place to live, work and shop.

A portion of the festival’s proceeds will benefit the Medford Arts Center, whose mission is education, evolution and empowerment through the arts. The center also supplies volunteers to help at the festival.

“We’re very very grateful for that event,” MAC Executive Director Lesha Moore said. “It’s a large fundraiser for the arts.”

Artist Philp Hauser, currently featured in the MAC gallery and a wood turner since 1987, will provide demonstrations of his work the day of the festival. His objective is to emphasize the natural beauty and imperfections of whole pieces of wood. Other artists will also be featured inside the gallery on festival day.

“It’s going to be really cool,” Moore said.

The festival will have the Medford Lakes Corvette Club occupying south Main Street for its fifth annual Wine n’ Shine car show. The group welcomes all models of the car and some will be judged.

Festival hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. After that, artist Craig Whitaker will perform a show at the Feed Mill downtown from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., an appearance sponsored by both the mill Kings Road Brewery.
