Robbery suspect apprehended by Cherry Hill Police following hold up at local bank

The male was apprehended without further  incident and found to be in possession of the stolen cash proceeds.

The following release is according to the Cherry Hill Police Department.

On Monday May 23, 2022 at approximately 9:24 a.m. Cherry Hill Police  Officers responded to the Citizens Bank, located at 2030 Route 70 West, for a bank robbery which had just occurred. Upon police arrival witnesses and bank officials reported a male  suspect passed a demand note indicating he was armed with a handgun and asking for $30,000 in cash.

While waiting for the bank teller’s response, the suspect grew impatient and suddenly snatched a large sum of cash off an unsuspecting patron who was attempting  to make a bank transaction. The suspect fled the bank with the stolen money and was last  seen on foot in the area of the Marketplace Shopping Center. Cherry Hill Police Patrol Units  and Detectives immediately flooded the area in an attempt to locate the suspect. 

A short time later police located a male matching the description of the robbery suspect in  the area of Route 38 and Cuthbert Boulevard. The male was apprehended without further  incident and found to be in possession of the stolen cash proceeds.

Arrested: Jose Cruz, Age 42, from Cherry Hill, New Jersey

Charges: Robbery 2C:15-1A (2); Crime of the 1st Degree
