Moorestown Rowing Club named Garden State Champions

Teams win gold at Garden State Scholastic Championships and Cooper Cup Regatta.

Special to The Sun: The Moorestown Rowing Club became state champions at the 2022 Garden State Scholastic Championships on April 30 and earned gold at the Cooper Cup Regatta the next day. Moorestown Rowing Club earned the title of Garden State Champions at the 2022 Garden State Scholastic Championships on April 30 and followed this feat with a convincing win at the Cooper Cup Regatta the next day.

Moorestown Rowing Club was the host for the Garden State Championships. Thirty-six school-based teams from across New Jersey came to the Cooper River to compete for the right to call themselves the overall Garden State Champion. For the first time in school history, Moorestown pulled it off with a convincing 73 medals (41 Gold, 27 Silver, 5 Bronze). The nearest competition had 55 medals. The girls team also took home the points trophy for the first time in school history and the Boys team came in second for the points trophy.  

The next day was the Cooper Cup. This race, which featured approximately 50 club teams from all over the region and beyond, was hosted by South Jersey Rowing Club. Moorestown put on a show again, collecting 45 gold and 9 bronze medals. They had another first at this race with both varsity girls and varsity boys each winning gold at the same event.  

Moorestown Crew is a rowing program for students in grades seven through 12, offering both recreational camps and opportunities to race competitively, both locally and nationally.
