Haddonfield Children’s Sculpture Zoo accepting volunteers

Zookeepers to help maintain garden every other Saturday beginning May 14.

It’s that time of year — the world is greening, flowers are blooming and weeds are sprouting. Haddonfield’s Children’s Sculpture Zoo beckons for the helping hands of Zookeepers volunteers.  Volunteering is an easy, family-friendly activity, and a great way to meet your neighbors and give back to the community.

The goal of the Zookeepers is to “adopt” the Edith and Joseph Tatem Memorial Garden, location of the world’s only Sculpture Zoo, at the corner of Kings Highway East and Evergreen Lane, and to aid the Borough in the garden’s maintenance and beautification by helping with weeding, plant maintenance, pruning, and more.

The 2022 season for the Zookeepers will start up again Saturday, May 14 (rain date Sunday, May 15).  The group will skip Memorial Day weekend and then, starting June 11, meet every other Saturday from 8 to 10 a.m. with rain dates on the following Sundays.  Meeting dates are May 14, June 11, June 25, July 9, July 23, August 6 and August 20.  Head Zookeepers Karynna Barasel and Matt Falciani are excited to get back in the garden this year and welcome any and all ages and skill levels  — every extra set of hands helps!  Just show up with your own tools and gloves – or contact Karynna at [email protected].
