She fills a seat that has been vacant since 2019, when Judge Jose Linares retired to join McCarter and English in Newark, and was nominated by President Joseph Biden on November 3, 2021 after receiving recommendations from U.S. Senators Bob Menendez and Cory Booker.

Castner received her law degree from Rutgers Law School in Camden in 2006 and has spent 15 years as a federal and state litigator. She has been with Montgomery McCracken Walker and Rhoads LLP in Cherry Hill since 2007, where she is a partner, and specializes in commercial litigation and white collar and government investigations. She is also co-chair of the firm’s Cannabis Law Practice Group and a member of the Diversity Committee.

Among her career highlights, Castner previously served as a law clerk for New Jersey Appellate Court Judge Joseph F. Lisa from 2006 to 2007, served as Chief of Staff to former Assemblyman and Trenton Mayor Reed Gusciora from 2001 to 2003 and has worked for U.S. Representative Bonnie Watson Coleman when Coleman served in the State Assembly.

Castner currently serves on the New Jersey Supreme Court’s Committee on Character, the New Jersey Supreme Court Committee on Model Civil Jury Charges and previously served as a member of Moorestown’s Zoning Board of Adjustment. She is the 92nd federal district court judge in the state’s history and is the 58th district court judge nominated by President Biden to be confirmed by the Senate.
