On the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month, Mabel Kay Senior Center is hosting a Lunch and Learn Speaker Series at 24 Walnut Street from 12:15 to 1:45.
In order to properly provide lunch, interested residents should RSVP by the Monday of that same week.
Coming up in the Lunch and Learn Speaker Series:
On April 27: Robert Strauss is a former journalist for the Philadelphia Daily News, KYW-TV and Sports Illustrated among other places and an adjunct professor of creative non-fiction at the University of Pennsylvania. He is now an historian, his last two books being “Worst. President. Ever.,” an irreverent biography of James Buchanan, which won the gold medal for biography from the Independent Publishers Assn., and “The Final Founder,“ a biography of John Marshall. He believes history should be fun and entertaining, not dull and turgid and will tell tales of American history to prove that so.
May 11: Doug Rauschenberger “A Most Interesting Fossil” : The Scientific and Historical Significance of Hadrosaurus Foulkii. In 1858, a nearly complete dinosaur skeleton was identified and excavated. This was the first in the world and it happened right here in Haddonfield. This talk tells how our “Haddy”, as we call him (or her) today, came to be discovered and why it was one of the most important scientific finds of the 19th century.
Please RSVP by email [email protected] or by phone 856-354-8789.
