Y.A.L.E. School hosts second annual Tri-State DisAbility Art Show

Awards will be announced at the Opening Reception April 29 from 5 to 9 p.m.

Y.A.L.E. School, a private special education school serving students with disabilities ages 3-21, will host the second annual Tri-State DisAbility Art Show April 29 & 30 at its Ellisburg Campus in Cherry Hill. Students with disabilities in grades K-12 and ages 18-21 from across New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware are invited to submit their artwork for display in the event.

“We are incredibly excited for our first in-person DisAbility Art Show, after the success of last year’s virtual event,” says Karen Donnelly, art teacher at Y.A.L.E. School. “This fabulous program unites students with disabilities from across the region, and enables them to contribute to a growing community that recognizes artistic self-expression as a springboard for awareness, dignity and respect.”

Exhibiting in the Art Show is free. Students may submit paintings, drawings, sculptures, videos and animations, mixed media and more.  Artwork must be submitted no later than April 14; no entry fee and all contributions will be included in the show. The gallery is free and open to the public on April 30, and special art activities and programs sponsored by the Penn Museum will be offered for children in attendance. Those who would like to enter their artwork for judging by Art Show partners, including the Penn Museum and Perkins Center for the Arts, may do so. Awards will be announced at the Opening Reception April 29 from 5 to 9 p.m. The family-friendly gallery and Penn Museum art activities will be open to the entire community at no cost on April 30 from 10 a.m to 3 p.m.  For more information, visit https://yaleschoolnj.com/event-calendar/disability-art-show-2022/.
