Members of the Partnership for Haddonfield (PfH) and the Haddonfield Environmental Commission (Sustainable Haddonfield) will be giving away 500 Haddonfield branded reusable shopping bags in Kings Court on Friday, April 22 from noon – 5 p.m. The giveaway is part of a campaign to make the Haddonfield community aware of the May 4, 2022, sing-use plastic bag ban going into effect in New Jersey. Shoppers and diners of Haddonfield are encouraged to “Bag Up” before visiting downtown by bringing their Kelly-Green Haddonfield shopping bags! Special thanks to Earth Day Sponsors: Pedego Electric Bikes Haddonfield, Lindsey Watch McCarthy, Weichert Realtors; and Haddonfield Go-Green Sponsors: Haddonfield Fine Jewelers, Haddon Culinary, Downtown Cookies, King’s Road Brewing Co.

Beginning May 4, 2022, all New Jersey retail stores, grocery stores, and foodservice businesses are prohibited from using single-use plastic carryout bags and polystyrene foam foodservice products. The New Jersey state plastic bag ban legislation was signed into law in November 2020, to phase out single-use plastic and paper bags and encourage the use of reusable bags throughout New Jersey. The Partnership for Haddonfield (PfH) is proactively promoting awareness of the ban throughout Downtown Haddonfield and guiding local business owners and customers on how to prepare for the upcoming change. The PfH is providing an informational campaign comprised of emails, a website page downtownhaddonfield.com/events/plastic-ban/ as well as virtual information meetings with business owners.
