Moorestown Library celebrates National Library Week

Activities include story time, trivia night, music and dancing.

CHRISTINE HARKINSON/Special to The Sun: The Moorestown Library will celebrate National Library Week with story time, a visit from the “Cat in the Hat” and a music program.

National Library Week is April 3 through April 9, and your Moorestown Library staff is excited to celebrate with you. To kick off National Library Week, we’re inviting members of the Moorestown community to take a brief survey to help plan the future of the library. The survey is available on the library’s website at www.moorestownlibrary.org and takes about six minutes to complete.

This feedback will help the library plan improvements and a roadmap as part of a new strategic plan of service. The strategic plan will guide the future of library services in Moorestown for the next few years. The plan will include a new mission, vision and goals for the library and consider improvements in areas such as facilities, collections, staffing, technology and user experience.

The Cat in the Hat will visit the library on April 2. Ms. Barbara will read a selection of Dr. Seuss stories and afterwards, there will be Dr. Seuss crafts available for children in attendance to take and make at home. The fun begins at 10 a.m. No registration is required.

Starting April 5, story time for children ages three and up will resume on Tuesdays at 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. and Thursdays at 10 a.m. Each week will feature stories focusing on a different theme and take-home crafts will be available after each story time.

Beginning April 3, join our newest Youth Services librarian, Ms. Ashley, at Baby Time (for newborns, one year olds and two year olds) on Mondays at 10 a.m. or Toddler Time (for two, three and four year olds) at 10:45 a.m. Miss Ashley is also introducing a new weekly program for toddlers called Move n’ Groove. This story time emphasizes music and dancing and is geared towards children ages two and up. Move n’ Groove kicks off April 6 at 4:15 p.m. on the library lawn.

Yoga Story Stretchers kicks off April 4 at 4:15 p.m. in the library meeting rooms. Children ages five through 10 can learn yoga breathing techniques and poses and listen to great stories. Space is limited. Please register in advance at MoorestownLibrary.org/Events.

For tween and teen book, movie and trivia lovers, the library will host a Kahoot! Trivia Night on Zoom on April 5 at 7 p.m. For students in fifth through eighth grade. Register in advance at MoorestownLibrary.org/Events.

On April 5, you can post your appreciation for the library staff or a special staff member on social media using the hashtag #NLWD22.
