Moorestown Township to hold Public Information Center on Lenola project

Residents will have an opportunity to review exhibits of the proposed Lenola project on March 22.

CHRISTINE HARKINSON/The Sun: Moorestown Township will host a public information session at town hall on March 22 to discuss the proposed Lenola Town Center improvements project.

You are invited to a Public Information Center for the proposed Lenola Town Center Improvements: Camden Avenue (CR 537) from Pennsauken Creek to Lenola Road project. The purpose is to inform the various stakeholders of the proposed plan for the project. The Public Information Center will be held at Town Hall on March 22 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The format for the Public Information Center is an “open-house” format. The public will have an opportunity to review exhibits of the proposed project. Representatives of McCormick Taylor will be available to answer questions and discuss any concerns.

The Township of Moorestown was awarded this federal Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) grant to construct bicycle and pedestrian improvements along the Camden Avenue corridor. The project will add bicycle lanes and a decorative flush median treatment throughout the corridor. Sidewalk, driveways and curb ramps throughout the project will be reconstructed to meet current ADA standards. Streetscape improvements include grass or decorative paver buffer strips with street tree plantings.

Proposed traffic calming measures include narrowed travel lanes, decorative crosswalks at intersections, raised median planters and speed monitoring signs. A signalized pedestrian crossing with a median refuge is proposed at the New Albany Road intersection to provide a much-needed connection to the adjacent bus stops. This pedestrian signal will consist of pushbuttons and an overhead sign with flashing beacons.

The project will also fill sidewalk gaps along New Albany Road and install a planted rain garden to capture the storm water runoff. Raised median islands with shrub plantings are proposed to provide traffic calming and create a sense of place along with gateway signage at the western end of the project. Pedestrian-scale light poles with attachments for banners, flags, and other decorations are proposed throughout project limits to enhance safety and walkability. Wayfinding and historical signs are proposed to highlight existing amenities in the community and share the area’s history.
