Camden County announces 343 new cases between 2/23 and 2/28

COVID cases decline for third week in a row

The Camden County Department of Health is announcing 269 new positive cases of COVID-19 and 8 new COVID-related deaths which occurred on Wednesday, Feb. 23 and Monday, Feb. 28. Additionally, there were 74 cases detected through antigen testing, bringing the total number of cases to 343. The aggregate number of confirmed positive cases in Camden County to 103,892 and 1,594 total fatalities.

The outcomes from these antigen tests, unlike the results from the polymerase chain reaction, (PCR) are probable positive cases. These daily numbers are added into our aggregated lab tested PCR metrics.

Of the 269 cases, 4are among patients under 18 years old. The average age of the newly infected is 41 years old.

“It appears we’re turning a corner with this pandemic,” said Commissioner Director Louis Cappelli, Jr. “Daily case counts, hospitalizations and other key metrics have continued to decline, which is comforting. But once again, I need to remind everyone that getting vaccinated and boosted is the key to moving past the pandemic. Vaccine hours:

Operational hours at the Camden County Health Hub vaccine clinic run from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursdays. This includes booster shots for ages 12-17.

To date, 405,178 Camden County residents have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 351,778 have received two doses and 174,299 have received a third dose. The county Health Department is continuing to closely track new cases of COVID-19 and information regarding the prevalence of the Omicron variant. New cases are often reassigned to other municipalities over the course of an investigation.
