The Lenape Regional High School District will partner with Walmart for a booster shot event on Feb. 9.
It is the third vaccine collaboration between the district and Walmart; the first held at the high school last May, and the second last July at Cherokee High School, according to Assistant Superintendent of Schools Matthew Webb.
“Walmart initiated the partnership and we are grateful to be able to work together for a third time,” Webb said
Walk-ins will be welcome and people can also pre-register to reserve a spot. Vaccines offered will be the Pfizer shot, the Pfizer booster, Moderna vaccine and Moderna booster. They will be free with a prescription or medical benefits.
Webb noted why holding the booster event and partnering with Walmart is crucial at this time, as the public still navigates the pandemic.
“The LRHSD considers this event to be important because the NJDOH (New Jersey Department of Health) recently changed the criteria for quarantine, and this updated criteria will impact all of our vaccinated students and staff that have not been boosted,” Webb explained.
“Any student or staff member that is eligible for the COVID booster vaccination and who is not boosted and identified as a close contact will need to quarantine … “ he added. “Getting boosted will help mitigate disruptions to students, classes and extracurricular activities.”
Lenape High School is located at 235 Hartford Road. Shots will be given between 3 and 7 p.m.
