Clearview’s board of education fill three seats

Muscarella remains president at annual reorganization meeting

The Clearview Regional High School District Board of Education held its annual reorganization meeting on Jan. 4, opening with the reading of election results.

Lisa Nole received a board position for Mantua Township and both Fenu Cherian and Scott Muscarella earned seats for Harrison Township. All three candidates have begun their three-year terms.

Board members then went on to appoint Muscarella for another term as president and Gregory Fuller for vice president.

The board will continue all appointments, depositories and signatories through June 30, as those items will be reapproved for the 2022-’23 school year at the April regular meeting, scheduled for the 8th.

The board moved on to standard business for the start of the year. It readopted all policies and regulations for community relations and legislations, approved the yearly review of procedures regarding over expenditures of funds and approved the annual review of its own code of ethics.

Before the executive session, the board approved a major resolution that lists regulations for holding public meetings remotely, one of which is that while public comments can be received during a board session, written comments must be received no later than 3 p.m. the day of the meeting to be read publicly. Comments must include name, address and group affiliation.

The meeting’s public session opened with substitute appointments, support-staff appointments and certificated staff appointments.

David Field and Zachary Kaminski were both appointed substitute teachers for the district; the latter will have a long-term substitute appointment as a self-contained special-education high-school teacher.

Sharon King was hired as a bus aide for the district and Victoria Staub started as Clearview Regional High School’s nurse on Jan. 3. New health- and physical-education teacher Jacob Brown will start in March.

Despite a COVID surge, Clearview schools are currently in person with implemented safety protocols.

The board will hold its next regular public meeting on Thursday, Jan. 27.
