Volunteers wanted for 2022 at Deptford Township Fire Department

Volunteers gain new skills and experiences that can prepare them for a possible career as a first responder or medical professional

Want to gear up for something that has the potential of saving lives in 2022? Consider becoming a volunteer firefighter with Deptford Township Fire Department. The New Year is the perfect time to take this step.

“Where could you go and volunteer your time where training is free, camaraderie is prevalent, gives a purpose to the community, and rewards you with a good feeling?” said Battalion Chief Rich Thomas.

Volunteers gain new skills and experiences that can prepare them for a possible career as a first responder or medical professional. If you are currently enrolled in or pursuing college, this opportunity can strengthen a resume and earn credits through free training all while making new and lasting friendships with team members.

Is volunteering right for you? Check out the ways you can contribute:

Senior Members – Head into burning buildings and battle the flames as a Deptford Township firefighter. This role requires state Firefighter 1 certification, but all training and equipment are provided free of cost.

Junior Members (ages 16-17) – Develop the skills necessary to become a full-fledged firefighter, responding to incidents under supervision and serving the community.

Canteen – Provide rehabilitation services to not only our members, but to firefighters all over Gloucester County, at the scene of major incidents as a member of our Rehab Unit.

Fire Police – Assist with traffic control at the scene of fires and motor vehicle crashes.

Administrative Volunteers – Help the department with important paperwork, planning and events.

“Being able to keep our community safe is why we do what we do. I wouldn’t change it for the world,” said Chairman Michael White. “Joining the Deptford Township Fire Department is life-changing for each volunteer and for the citizens we serve.”
