Arrest made for Delsea Drive pedestrian hit and run

A 37-year-old male from Deptford Township was arrested and formally charged

On Saturday, Nov. 6 at approximately 6:36 p.m. Deptford Township police patrol officers were dispatched to Delsea Drive, between Kohler Avenue and Lexington Avenue, for a report of a pedestrian that had been struck by a vehicle. On location, a 33-year-old male from Deptford Township was discovered lying in the roadway.

The victim suffered severe injuries in the collision and remains in serious condition at Cooper University Hospital. The driver failed to stop after the collision.

​On Wednesday, Dec. 15th, a 37-year-old male from Deptford Township was arrested and formally charged with several crimes concerning the hit and run incident from Nov. 6.

The male suspect, identified as Anthony K. Cullen Jr., was apprehended after an exhaustive effort by the Deptford Township Police Criminal Investigations Division, under the command of detective and lieutenant John Gigante.

Cullen was charged with knowingly leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident resulting in serious bodily injury (3rd degree) and endangering an injured victim (3rd degree). These charges are mere allegations of wrongdoing. Every defendant is considered innocent unless and until they are found guilty in a court of law.

This case was investigated by detective Robert Jones of the major crimes unit and patrol officer Michael Brazelton of the traffic safety unit.
