CamCo sees 879 COVID cases this week

Kids ages 16 and 17 are now eligible for booster shots. Cases remain high in Camden, Cherry Hill, Gloucester Township, and are on the rise in Pennsauken, Voorhees and Winslow.

The Camden County Department of Health is announcing 879 new positive cases of COVID-19 which occurred between Tuesday, Dec. 7 and Friday, Dec. 10, bringing the aggregate number of confirmed positive cases in Camden County to 64,714 and 1,370 total fatalities.

Of the new cases, 226 are among patients under 18 years old. The average age of the newly infected ranged between 30 and 39 this week.

“Case counts continue to rise but the good news is that children ages 16 and 17 can now receive Pfizer booster shots” said Commissioner Director Louis Cappelli, Jr. “All adults have been eligible for nearly a month now and this new age bracket will only help us in our fight against this virus. Boosters add to the protection the initial two doses give you so please, if you haven’t done so already, get vaccinated and get your booster. You can make an appointment for your first or second dose or your booster shot at the Camden County Health Hub by visiting www.CamdenCountyVaccine.com.”

To date, 370,863 Camden County residents have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 326,138 are fully vaccinated and 97,184 have received a third dose. The county Health Department is continuing to closely track new cases of COVID-19 and information regarding the prevalence of the Delta variant. New cases are often reassigned to other municipalities over the course of an investigation.
