Moorestown Library kicks off a season of festive events

Adults and children can enjoy story time, crafts and cooking classes.

The spirit of the season is everywhere at the Moorestown Library, with many ways for folks of all ages to celebrate this festive time of year and join in the season of giving.

Dec. 4 is a busy day in Moorestown, with the holiday parade down Main Street at noon and the Candlelight Stroll in the evening. The library is kicking off the festivities bright and early, with a visit from the beloved Mouse from “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie.”

Join us outside at 10 a.m. for fun seasonal stories, including “If You Take a Mouse to the Movies.” After story time, children and families are invited to pose for a photo with the Mouse and pick up a festive craft to take home. Remember to dress warmly for this outdoor event!

Upcoming Grab and Go crafts for kids include a menorah for Hanukkah, winter sticker scenes, a kinara for Kwanzaa, a New Year’s Eve countdown craft and a 2022 calendar. New crafts are offered beginning every Saturday and remain available as long as supplies last. Crafty teens and tweens can drop in beginning Dec. 4 to pick up a colorful wreath craft to warm up the winter.

Adults are invited to join us on Zoom for variety of programs throughout the month to help you get ready for the holidays, including:

Dec. 4 at noon – Holiday Cookies with Chef Monica Glass

Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. – Decked Out for the Holidays with Garden Designer Jana Milbocker

Dec. 11 at 2 p.m. – Holiday Music from around the World:  a gala recital

Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. – Christmas Traditions with Kevin Woyce

Dec. 21 at 10:30 a.m. – Staying on Track:  Holiday Meal Planning with Chris Zellers

To celebrate the spirit of giving, the library will once again continue the tradition of placing a Toys for Tots collection box in the lobby. The community is invited to donate new, unwrapped toys to be given to children in need this holiday season.

In addition, the library is excited to introduce a new opportunity for giving this year. The Tree of Warmth, decorated with donations of new hats, mittens, gloves, and scarves for those in need is on display in the New Books Room through February.

Members of the community are invited to leave items on the tree and to take items as needed. These winter essentials will be distributed to local individuals and families in need.
