Stick Together art display raises money for local dog rescue

Rose Bear Arts donates sticker art sales to Don’t Bully Us

While his passion has spanned a lifetime, Josh Weichmann has been a professional digital artist working on multiple projects and mediums for nearly five years. Now, his collection of sticker art will be on display and for sale at his Stick Together event during the month of November.

Stick Together, a collaborative art show, is showcased at Chompsky’s Cafe in Wenonah, with worldwide sticker designs on original artwork made by Rose Bear Arts, Weichmann’s shop.

“Sticker Art became a passion kind of by accident,” said the Franklinville resident. “I had made a couple designs into stickers and they became quite popular pretty quickly. Eventually, I found myself making more and more designs and slowly discovering the ‘sticker community’ via social media.”

Social media has given Weichmann a platform to not only express himself, but to find in person opportunities to showcase and sell his art, including regional shows in Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., that inspired him to host a show of his own. That’s when he decided to contact his friend, Alex from Chompsky’s Cafe, for assistance.

“He quickly agreed and we easily decided we’d use the event to help dogs,” Weichmann said. “We are both dog lovers and Chompsky’s is, after all, named after Alex’s family dog.”

All proceeds from Stick Together will be donated to Don’t Bully Us Rescue, a dog shelter that serves the Philadelphia-South Jersey area. When asked why he chose that specific charity, Weichmann admitted it was an easy choice.

“I chose Don’t Bully Us Rescue pretty quickly,” he explained. “While I have had no personal experience with them, I have seen their work in the community. I have seen them at events, and I have seen their success stories via social media. Also I have some friends who do volunteer work for them.”

Pieces at Chompsky’s will remain on display until Nov. 20, with Weichmann expected to sell more of his works alongside other artist friends on that last day as a celebration to end the event.

Weichmann, however, still has a lot more in store. He is currently working on hosting an art festival called Jawnaroo, set to take place on May 21 at the Gloucester County 4h Fairgrounds.

While he’s still working out details, Weichmann describes Jawnaroo as a “huge vision.”

“It’s a lot of work, but we are focused on building it to be an annual festival that is fun for the whole family and is very artist friendly,” he noted. “I hope to build this area’s best arts and music festival and provide a favorite event for artists and customers to attend each year. Also we will be partnering with a charity soon to ensure our event helps the community.”
