Gloucester County Animal Shelter has the purr-fect pet for you

GCAS is open for animal lovers to walk through our kennels.

The Gloucester County Animal Shelter (GCAS) is open for animal lovers to walk through our kennels.

We are open to view and/or adopt an animal Tuesday through Thursday from noon to 7 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from noon 4 p.m. The Adoption Office is closed on Sunday’s, Monday’s and all major holidays.

An approved application is not required to walk through the kennel, but we do encourage you to fill an application out prior to arrival just in case you would like to meet an animal available for adoption.

“We have so many animals available for adoption at the shelter. From guinea pigs to kittens to dogs to cats, there’s a pet for everyone,” Director Robert M. Damminger said.

Director Damminger would like to remind residents that adoption fees are only $35 for dogs and cats six years and younger. Fees are waived for animals six years and older.

Adoption includes spaying, neutering, all age-appropriate vaccines and dogs are heartworm tested and microchipped.

The shelter is always accepting volunteer applications to help care for the animals. Individuals interested in volunteering at GCAS can find an application here:

“Our volunteers assist with so many duties at the shelter- it’s more than just cleaning but really spending time with the animals and caring for them like they’re their own. The animals love seeing our volunteers and we know they’re the best of the best,” Deputy Director Frank J. DiMarco, liaison to the animal shelter said.

GCAS Volunteers were honored at the Gloucester County Open House held on Oct. 2.
