Tractor-Trailer Challenge Collects Relief Supplies

This is the fourth Tractor-Trailer Challenge organized by the DiPasquale family

A Burlington County family is challenging the entire region of South Jersey to fill a 53-foot tractor-trailer with hurricane relief supplies for victims of recent Hurricane Ida.

The Tractor-Trailer Challenge will take place over one weekend, Sept. 25 and 26, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the parking lot of the Moorestown Mall, 400 Route 38, Moorestown, NJ.  The entire event is run by volunteers, most of which are teens, and their parents. Bohren’s Moving Company donated the tractor-trailer, driver, and transport of the goods to Louisiana; and Moorestown Mall donated the use of their location for the event.

The donated supplies will be delivered directly to Louisiana, where residents are desperately struggling for weeks without power and supplies, in the aftermath of Hurricane Ida.

Relief supplies accepted include cleaning supplies (bleach, sprays, disinfectants), mops, brooms, buckets, large trash bags, paper towels, non-perishable foods, baby products (diapers, wipes, formula), hygiene products (toothpaste, adult diapers, soap, shampoo, deodorant, feminine products, first aid products, etc.), dog and cat food, hand sanitizer, masks, and can openers. Monetary donations will NOT be accepted.

This is the fourth Tractor-Trailer Challenge organized by the DiPasquale Family since 2012.  The first challenge took place in Monmouth County, following Superstorm Sandy, and the other two in Moorestown, following Hurricane Irma in 2017, and Hurricane Florence in 2018.  All towns rose to the challenge each time, filling the tractor-trailers with hurricane relief supplies.

The family of three has since formed a nonprofit organization, Local Acts of Kindness Foundation, offering additional town challenges and programs encouraging kindness among neighbors near and far.
