Gloucester County Commissioner Director Robert M. Damminger and Commissioner Jim Lavender announced that the annual free Kids Fishing Contest will take place on Saturday, Sept. 18 at Scotland Run Park in Clayton.

“This catch and release contest is a fun way for kids to show off their fishing skills in a competitive, but friendly environment,” Damminger said.

“Fishing is a great way for kids to experience the wonders of nature,” Lavender, Liaison to the Department of Parks, said. “We are proud to continue this tradition at Scotland Run Park and we encourage our young residents to come out and try out their fishing skills on Sept. 18.”

All kids 18 and under are eligible to enter, and kids 16 and older must be licensed in order to compete. Competitors are allowed one rod and one reel per person and must bring their own bait.

Final weigh-in will take place at 11:30 a.m. All un-injured fish will be returned to the lake.
