Mayor’s Column: Mobile Motor Vehicle Commission

On Friday, Sept. 10, the MVC will again bring their mobile unit services to the Voorhees Town Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the former Macy’s parking lot off of Somerdale Road.

Many were unable to visit the Motor Vehicle Commission (MVC) during the pandemic as their offices were closed or only open for limited hours. The Township Committee, along with our Police Department, reached out to the MVC requesting that their Mobile Service Units come to Voorhees to assist our residents in processing services.

On Friday, Sept. 10, the MVC will again bring their mobile unit services to the Voorhees Town Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the former Macy’s parking lot off of Somerdale Road.

Customers will need to bring 6 points of identification and their social security card. ID points can be found on the MVC website, nj.gov/mvc/. Those who do not have a social security card may submit an affidavit form which can also be found on the MVC website

This mobile unit will provide the following services:

  • Driver’s license renewal
  • Vehicle registration renewal
  • Veteran license designation
  • Handicapped and Purple Heart placards
  • Name and/or address change
  • Boat endorsements
  • Permits
  • Non-Driver ID cards
  • Voter and organ donor registration
  • License plate drop off

Appointments are required and can be scheduled by email at ddorto@voorheesnj.com  or calling the Township at 856-429-4703. Walk-ins are permitted but service is not guaranteed.

In addition, vehicle inspections will also take place on a first come first serve basis and appointments are not needed. Vehicles may be presented for inspection up to 2 months in advance of the month in which they are due to expire.

We will continue to request that Voorhees Township host MVC Mobile Services Units to assist our residents.
