Obituary: Roy Sewell

A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday July 16 for Sewell.

Roy Sewell of Moorestown passed away on July 4. Originally from England, he graduated from Luton College of Technology before joining the British Army. He served in the Korean War as a tank commander. Following his military service, he worked as a computer scientist in England. Shortly thereafter, he was recruited to join Honeywell near Boston. On his first day in the United States, he met his future wife, Victoria, and the-couple married shortly thereafter.

Roy joined RCA as a computer scientist in Moorestown, where he immediately became active in the community. He served on the library board for 20 years, was a member of the YMCA Service Club and was a Deacon at The First Presbyterian Church of Moorestown. He enjoyed many happy family vacations at Lake St. Catherine in Vermont.

Roy never had an unkind word to say to anyone. One of his proudest moments was when he became an American citizen, an achievement that was reflected in his love of flying the American flag.

Roy was the beloved husband of Victoria and dear father of Alexander and his wife, Erica. He is survived by his sister, Betty Revill of Cyprus and four nieces and nephews in England. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday July 16, at the First Presbyterian Church of Moorestown at 101 Bridgeboro Rd. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Roy’s name to: The First Presbyterian Church of Moorestown, 101 Bridgeboro Rd. Moorestown, NJ ; The Moorestown Community House, 16 E.
