Apartment fire victim suffers severe burns to her feet and hands

The fire was contained to the bedroom and quickly extinguished. The victim was transported to Cooper Trauma Center for treatment.

Release according to the Gloucester Township Police Department.

On June 5, 2021 at approximately 10:09 p.m., the Gloucester Township Police Department responded to the Cherrywood Apartment Complex, 1200 Little Gloucester Rd., for a reported apartment fire, with a trapped resident. Arriving officers encountered heavy smoke in the upstairs apartment. Multiple Gloucester Township Fire Departments arrived and a female victim was located in a back bedroom. The victim was removed by  firefighters and appeared to have severe burns to her feet and hands. The victim also appeared to be suffering from smoke inhalation.

The fire was contained to the bedroom and quickly extinguished. The victim was transported to Cooper Trauma Center for treatment. The victim’s name is not being released at this time.

While this incident does not appear to be suspicious at this time, it is being investigated by the Gloucester Township Police Department Investigations Bureau and the Blackwood Fire Department Fire Marshal.
