CamCo logs eight deaths, 300 more COVID cases

News arrives as more than 183,000 county residents are fully vaccinated.

The Camden County Department of Health is announcing eight new deaths caused by COVID-19, as well as 300 additional confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus confirmed between Saturday, May 1, and Monday, May 3. This brings the aggregate number of confirmed positive cases to 48,007 in Camden County today and 1,175 total fatalities.

The following information is currently available regarding these most recent deaths in Camden County:

New Case 3: MALE, 50s, COLLINGSWOOD BOROUGH
New Case 4: MALE, 80s, BERLIN BOROUGH
New Case 5: FEMALE, 80s, GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP
New Case 6: FEMALE, 80s, PENNSAUKEN BOROUGH
New Case 7: FEMALE, 50s, CHERRY HILL TOWNSHIP
New Case 8: FEMALE, 60s, CHERRY HILL TOWNSHIP

“Even with more than half of all adults in Camden County having received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine, this virus continues to rip a hole in our community. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families as the health department announces eight new deaths caused by coronavirus,” said County Commissioner Director Louis Cappelli, Jr.

“Governor Murphy has officially put New Jersey on a path to reopening and regaining a sense of normality for the first time since last March. Even when capacity limits and other restrictions are removed in the coming weeks, please continue to be mindful of your neighbors’ health and safety. Keep social distancing, wear a mask when you can’t, and most importantly, get vaccinated as soon as possible.”

The Department of Health is announcing 300 additional positive cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) identified in Camden County. Trace investigations are being facilitated with the patients and remain ongoing.

To date, 403,868 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in Camden County. There 183,041 people who are fully vaccinated.

In addition, the county Department of Health is also announcing 2,382 confirmed resident cases and 1,391 staff cases have occurred out of the aggregate case load of 48,007 in our 56 long-term care facilities. At this time, 466 resident deaths have been reported from these facilities, as well as seven staff deaths, out of our 1,175 total fatalities countywide.

The county Health Department is currently working to trace close contacts of these newest cases. The investigations are still ongoing, and we will update the public with new developments as the information is gathered by our investigators.
