Evesham’s Youth Advisory Committee honors local veterans

Members of YAC will join volunteers from the nonprofit Heroic Gardens organization to help beautify the Marlton VFW on May 1 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Evesham Township Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) will be honoring Evesham’s local veterans by creating an outdoor space for veterans to enjoy the beauty and therapeutic benefits of gardens and nature.

On, Saturday, May 1, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., members of YAC will join with volunteers from the nonprofit Heroic Gardens organization to help beautify the landscaping of the Marlton VFW, located at 94 10th St, Marlton, NJ. The groups will be planting, weeding, and cleaning up debris/brush and other materials around the entire outside of the site.

NJ State Sen. Dawn Marie Addiego and volunteers from her office will also be onsite to help with the project.

Heroic Gardens is a registered 501c3 non-profit organization consisting of amateur and professional gardeners that believe in the power of plants. The group’s goal is to help veterans learn to work with plants and nature as part of their own healing process.

The Evesham Township Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) consists of Evesham residents in grades 6th – 12th who have an interest in politics, government, and community service.

A portion of the supplies for this event was donated locally from Laurel Oak Garden Center.

All members of the media are invited to attend this event.

(Rain date for this event is Sunday, May 2, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., if needed)
